Hidden within the marks of intuitive paintings, five hundred beings waited quietly for someone to look long enough.

The colour, movement, scraped surfaces and uncertain marks existed before any figure was named.
Only afterward did shapes begin to emerge—a leaning body, an uncertain gesture, two eyes looking back. Ryan added only what was necessary to reveal what was already there.
What is an Observer?
A being found within a painting—not placed upon it.
Its body follows the original marks. Its posture carries an emotion. Its uneven eyes suggest awareness, but never explain exactly what they see.
Ways of being seen
Not costumes.
Inner lives.
Observers are distinguished through posture, colour, distance and the direction of their gaze.
